In order to enhance ARR resources in the event of a critical emergency situation ever arising during our club night training group runs. We have been offered the support of ‘Heartstart’ first responders to conduct a 2 hour demonstration course that when needed can be of vital help to all our runners.

Hence we are seeking ARR member volunteers that wish to attend the course. Ideally two or three people from each training group is required.

Please enter names on the list situated on our notice board at Wilsons.

We will look to arrange a venue and time, outside normal working hours.

Anyone considering Race the Train 20th August there are places still available and space at our campsite. The entry fee increases end of July so make sure you book early. Our handicap race is on Tuesday 9th August. Last year it was very successful with 50 of our runners taking part. (see Club Events on our website for further details). Please could you confirm (by 31st July) if you will be running by sending an e-mail (accringtonroadrunners@hotmail.co.uk) or contacting Graham. Also please confirm whether your staying for food (meat or veggie). For those that don’t want to run we need a few volunteers to help run the event.

Summer Run - Handicap Ribble Valley 10K on Tuesday 9th August 2016 starting at 6.45 from car park opposite the Sports Centre at Edisford Bridge.  We will be eating at The Edisford Bridge pub, Clitheroe BB7 3LJ. 

 

Meat & onion pie or cheese & onion will be available after the run, 

Please note there will not be a run from Wilsons that night.

Just a reminder – Wilsons Athletics Track is available to us every Thursday, 5:30pm to 6:30pm. We have a number of runners of all abilities currently using this facility for track sessions. Everyone is welcome! Speedwork doesn’t just make you run faster, it makes you more comfortable at all speeds and increases your fitness. Remember to ‘sign in’ & pay £2 to Hyndburn Athletics in the office next to the changing rooms.

Just a reminder to all our runners regarding the rule on club vests.
When competing in any race or event as an attached member of Accrington Road Runners; it is expected you wear (and display) a club vest.
This is particularly important when representing the club in team events and in our club races.
The club vest helps advertise and promote the club gives us a presence in races.

Welcome to Accrington Road Runners

Accrington road runners was formed in 1985 and presently train at the Wilson playing field facility in Clayton-le-Moors, Accrington.

The purpose of the site is for runners to keep up to date with the latest at Accrington Road Runners. Whether you are a member or not, we welcome your input to our site.

Furthermore you can contact our President by clicking on the "Contact us" link.

Training night

We meet at 6.20 Wilson's playing field to start running at 6.30 prompt on Tuesday evenings. We have 3 or 4 groups to cater for the different levels of abilities, to ensure that no one is left on their own. Click on the Club profile link to learn more about us.

Directions to Wilson's playing field sports complex

Wilson's playing field is approximately 200 metres up Clayton Hall Drive, which is off the main Whalley road (A680) between Accrington and Great Harwood. Click here to see a map (opens in a new window).

There is also a large car park at the sports complex.
