To all Manchester, London Marathons & Three Peaks Entrants
Good Luck and Best Wishes to all ARR participating in the above events over the forthcoming weekends.
To hopefully inspire or frighten you a few marathon quotes -
"Marathoning is like cutting yourself unexpectedly. You dip into the pain so gradually that the damage is done before you are aware of it. Unfortunately, when awareness comes, its excruitating !"
At 20 miles I'm sure you'll think - "why couldn't Pheidippides have died here?"
.......but never forget........."It is difficult to train for a marathon; but it is even more difficult not to be able to train for a marathon!"

Following his elongated visits to Accrington Victoria and Royal Blackburn, Brian Scully was released home, fortunately with only superficial injuries (skin tears and abrasions) and sore ribs. Brian is going to be very sore and covered in bruises for the next few days/weeks. He says he is going to stick to the roads from now on, if Brenda will let him out.Whilst we were at Accy Vic, Peter Blackledge came in to get treatment for a dog bite he sustained on the same run, hope the tetanus injection wasn't to painful Peter, because after all, as the dog owners said 'it was only a puppy' a big puppy. Why not join group 4 for future more interesting runs(message will expire on Thu 30/Apr/2015)

Around the world with ARR
Local born guy Kevin Bradshaw joins us once or twice a year on training nights, reason being he lives and works in 'the land of the rising sun' Japan. Kevin ran with group 2 this week.
He has asked I enquire on his behalf if anyone in the club would have a spare room to accommodate him on his next visit for 2 weeks in August, his e-mail address is email@example.com.
In past years we have had guest runners from Australia,USA, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, Italy, Holland, etc
Anyone fancy a run in Japan !!

Just a reminder – Wilsons Athletics Track is available to us every Thursday, 5:30pm to 6:30pm. We have a number of runners of all abilities currently using this facility for track sessions. Everyone is welcome! Speedwork doesn’t just make you run faster, it makes you more comfortable at all speeds and increases your fitness. Remember to ‘sign in’ & pay £2 to Hyndburn Athletics in the office next to the changing rooms.

When competing in any race or event as an attached member of Accrington Road Runners; it is expected you wear (and display) a club vest.
