BE 'HI VIZ BRIGHT' -  TO SHINE IN THE DARK

Since my last request message on our website it is pleasing to see more members turning out on training nights with Hi Viz running kit. Yet we still have a small number of people turning up in dark running tops. I'm sorry to keep 'banging on' about this, it is common sense the high element of danger in not being seen by road users.

Also a polite reminder that at all times we do need to be extremely vigilant when crossing roads during training sessions. Often the front runners of the group find a gap in the traffic and quickly cross the road leaving other runners stranded at the roadside. When this occurs will no one please carry on running until ALL the group have safely crossed the road. Thank you for your co-operation.

This is off the Burnden Road Runners Facebook page:
"A special well done to the masses who turned out at Accrington. Special recognition at the presentation for the number and quality of field we put out there with many category wins especially for the Ladies. Accrington celebrate their 30th Anniversary next year - maybe we could approach them for a special race between the two clubs - food for thought."

Re AGM. -  English athletics membership discussion

Many thanks to Dave Mallerby for offering to investigate the pros and cons of continuing our membership of EA and the benefits of alternatives.

I refer all members to read the website of the association of running clubs, especially what they say about EA.

Just a reminder – Wilsons Athletics Track is available to us every Thursday, 5:30pm to 6:30pm. We have a number of runners of all abilities currently using this facility for track sessions. Everyone is welcome! Speedwork doesn’t just make you run faster, it makes you more comfortable at all speeds, increases your fitness, improves the range of movement in your joints, and ultimately it will help you to run harder for longer. Remember to ‘sign in’ & pay £2 to Hyndburn Athletics in the office next to the changing rooms.
