Event Venue:
Leeds Liverpool Canal
Event Time:
Start 9am
Who's invited?:
All are welcome
Details:
The Canal Relay; (running the full length of the Leeds/Liverpool canal). The format includes two teams setting off simultaneously from both ends of the canal and meeting at the halfway point, near the canal swing bridge at Church, Accrington. The route is divided up into 12 stages (6 on each side) with at least two runners per stage. We last completed this relay in 2008 and it was a great success with all runners having a great day. It is not a race and should be treated as a summer run. The scenery is good and the route is easy “no hills”. It is hoped that you can raise approx £10 sponsorship per person for our charity. If you’re interested speak with David Graham 01254 390527.

Event Venue:
Tywyn
Event Time:
Who's invited?:
All are welcome
Details:
As part of our 25th anniversary we intend to have a “weekend away” in Wales to compete in the “Race The Train” event on 20th & 21st August. This unique race is in its 27th year and is a fantastic event attracting over 1000 runners. The main race follows a 14 mile “multi terrain” route alongside Talyllyn Railway on its journey to Abergynolwyn with runners trying to beat the train. Spectators are welcome and can enjoy watching the race by travelling on the train and shout encouragement as it passes the runners. There is an alternative 10K race for those that don’t fancy the full distance. The race is on the Saturday 21st followed by prize giving and evening entertainment. It is your choice whether to travel on the day of the race, but ideally it would be good to stay over night Friday and Saturday. This trip is not being organised by the club and it is your responsibility to enter the race and arrange accommodation, but with a number of our members having tents and caravans we could all meet at a camp site. There are plenty of B&B for those that don’t fancy a night under canvas. For those interested it is advised to enter the race and nearer the time we will decide on the camp site. More information
