Bradford Relay 2019

Today's relay was a big success - with 40 runners taking part and all successfully completing legs!
A big well done to everyone involved with the mixed team, as they took the mixed team prize on the day!
The vets team came 2nd i believe - and the two open teams had a really close tussle, with only six seconds in it after leg four!

A huge thank you is owed to Graham & Carole Morris, who have again given a huge amount of their own time in planning the event - facilitating relays and manning the mini bus and providing operational (and emotional?!) support to all our participants on the day! Their efforts are simply superb, and on behalf of the club we are incredible greatful for everything you do!

In addition to Liam Moden, who has assisted Graham excellently this year and again given up a significant amount of his time in participating in reccies and also being available for the full day today!

Thank you to all other helpers and everyone else that participated too. You all did the club proud!

(message will expire on Sun 30/Jun/2019).

Just a reminder to all our runners regarding the rule on club vests.
When competing as a member of Accrington Road Runners in a race or event; it is expected you wear (and display) a club vest.
This is particularly important when representing the club in team events and in our club races.
The club vest helps advertise and promote the club gives us a presence in races.
Club Vests are available from Colette or Liam

The Route - Ribble Valley 10k course

Cost -No charge for this event, but members will have to pay for their own food and drink.

Format Each runner will submit their estimated race time for a 10k. This time should be their best 10k time OR a fair time that reflects the runners current form. The time should be rounded down to the nearest 30 seconds. (EG 42:49 = 42:30). Each runner will set off at different times (slower runners first)
EG Runners that would expect to finish the 10k in 60 minutes would set off at 6:45pm whereas those with an estimated time of 45 minutes would start at 7pm etc. hopefully creating an exciting finish. In theory everyone has an equal chance of wining if they run to their usual race pace.

Please support this event we need lots of runners to make it a success. Please run in your club vest.

Although you can just turn up on the day it would be a great help if you can let Graham know beforehand if you are running and also your estimated 10k time

There will be lots of prizes including a booby prize for the runner that finishes far faster than their estimated time, not a prize you want to win, so be fair with your time!!!

Details: This fantastic event attracts over 1000 runners. The main race follows a 14 mile multi terrain route alongside Talyllyn Railway on its journey to Abergynolwyn with runners trying to beat the train. Spectators are welcome and can enjoy watching the race by travelling on the train and shout encouragement as it passes the runners.
There is an alternative 10K race for those that dont fancy the full distance.
The race is on Saturday 17th followed by prize giving and evening entertainment. It is your choice whether to travel on the day of the race, but ideally it would be good to stay over night Friday and Saturday night. With a number of our members having tents and caravans we could make it a camping weekend. There are plenty of B&B for those that dont fancy a night under canvas. For those interested it is advised to enter the race early. We have provisionally booked a number of pitches at a campsite but not yet confirmed definite numbers. If you would like a pitch please let Graham know your requirements, number of nights and how many tents etc. Its a great weekend with many of our runners competing so come and join us, all welcome.
