Studmarks from the Summit

Just received my number for this ARR championship race and the organiser tells me that I am the only ARR member entered so far.

Entries in by 12 Feb. No EOD!

Congratulations to Sarah, for being selected again to represent Lancashire in the Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships at Birmingham on 10^thMarch 2012. This is the biggest cross country team event with competitors from all over UK representing their counties in front of the television cameras.  

Many thanks to everyone that offered to compete for the club in the recent Pennine Bridleway Relay. We had over 40 runners, of all abilities volunteer allowing us to enter 4 teams, a tremendous effort for a club of our size, particularly in an “off road” event. Over the last few weeks we have prepared for the relay by reccing all the routes, in some cases being joined by members not running in the relay. We also had members offering to “taxi” our runners between the routes on race day; it would have been a real club effort. Unfortunately due to icy conditions it was cancelled. Although it is a disappointment, it was not worth risking injury. Thanks again to everyone that has helped and been involved in preparing for this event.

Barry kindly posted a link to an age grading calculator on Good Run Guide, I’ve realised however that unfortunately that one doesn’t work correctly on certain distances. Either that or I need to think about competing for England in any 10mile races! This one seems to be more accurate:

Track sessions

Place: Wilsons Track

Day and time: Every Thursday for a 5.40pm start time (warmed up and ready for 5.40pm)

Cost: £2 for the use of the track

Duration: Finished by 6.25pm sharp

Track work sessions are a great way to improve your fitness and race times!

Last year most of the regular members that came to the session week in week out improved there pb's
